When looking for a good pair of headphones, several things need to be considered and it is not just the looks alone that should define the overall quality of the sounds produced. Noise isolation can also be important as the enjoyment of listening to good quality tracks can be interrupted with outside environmental noise. Adding such functionality can cause some issues in comfort. Some earphones may look to be very comfortable, but that can vary depending on the size of the listener’s ears.
Logitech’s answer to this problem comes in the form of several earphones each with their own levels of audio quality and extra earphones. Every product falls in its own category and one of the categories available is the SuperFi lineup where the sound quality goes above par because of the unique way the internal speaker was constructed. The Ultimate Ears SuperFi 4vi is one of the earphones available and it has the same features as the original 4 model along with a couple of goodies exclusive to “vi” models.

Design and Comfort
The SuperFi 4vi continues to the design tradition of the Ultimate Ears products with the trendy logo and durable machined aluminum housing to emphasize long lasting quality and comfort at the same time. The earphones also look good with a unique “gun metal” design. Their design opens up comfort possibilities by offering a number of special ear cushions that are all made of silicon. Three pairs of ear cushions of different sizes can be used for a better fit while the other 2 pairs are made of Comply™ foam for added comfort.
The only real challenge is getting the earphones to fit in the ear as the apertures are a bit bigger. This shouldn’t be much of a problem because the earphones include an ear loop made of flexible plastic which is meant to keep the earphones in place by looping the cord around the ear. Although the apertures are big, the Ultimate Ears SuperFi 4vi still remains very lightweight and easy to carry along especially since the earphones comes with a hard casing to ensure that the earpieces do not get damaged and a cleaning tool for maintenance use. Packing the earphones can be done without tangling the cords since it includes an adjustable slider right near the part where the cord splits.
“I love these buds. There are really only 3 choices for iPhone earbuds if you want the mic/control feature. I tried the UB7 Ultimate Buds Apple / Etymotic ER6i and the V-Moda Vibe Duos and these won out. The Super.fi’s have a great design. Very light and I got a great fit. A really nice balanced sound. The button is a little hard to press at first, but after a while it loosens up and you get the hang of where to press – right in the middle. No other cons on these. The case is small and easy to carry. Every phones should come with a case this cool. Cable is the perfect length. Mic sounds as good if not better than the Apple phones. It is easy to conclude that the Ultimate Ears SuperFi 4vi sounds much better and clearer than regular earphones thanks to the two internal components that are embedded in each earpiece. The first component is the custom armature speaker that is responsible for delivering clean mid and high tones that a lot of popular tracks make good use of. This also makes the bass a bit more detailed than other headphones. The second component is a filter that makes every little detail of the sound present by using a tuned filter to shape up then sound.
The Ultimate Ears SuperFi 4vi is specially designed with noise isolation in mind. It can block 26 dB worth of outside noise which is significantly higher than standard earphones that claim to have noise cancellation features. The noise isolation makes it ideal for people that travel often and do not want to be bothered by too much environmental noise.
The Ultimate Ears SuperFi 4vi has a 3.5 gold-plated jack so it can be plugged into any portable audio device or computer system. The “vi” suffix indicates its support for iPhone and Blackberry models as well because of the extra button switches from listening mode to phone mode. With the built-in mic, talking is possible as well.

The Ultimate Ears SuperFi 4vi doesn’t add anything else to the Ultimate Ears SuperFi 4 so it is best to get this model or any of the other “vi” models if the earphones will be used on any of the supported handsets. Other models can be a better and more affordable choice as the sound quality meets professional standards and the design is well done as it is comfortable to ear. The noise isolation really works too making it a great recommend to anyone that wishes to turn up the quality of their listening sessions.

• “After being held hostage with the stock Apple earbuds for the iPhone, it’s truly wonderful to get a set of these high end in-ear monitors. The standard tips (as they come in the box) fit me perfectly. If you find that they don’t though, all variety of tips are provided in the box. The mic picks up your voice very well without the need to hold the mic to your mouth. The call answer switch also works well, although it’s pretty small and the actual switch is hard to push. • “After trying out and getting rid of several sets of iPhone specific iems (inner ear monitor), as well as a couple of non-iPhone models, the Super.fi 4vi was the hands down winner. When compared to similarly priced iems, I found these to offer the most neutral, best overall sound of the bunch. I am comparing these to Shure E2, Shure E3, Etymotic ER6i, VModa, and my previous favorites – a pair of modified Sony MDR EX91s. With the iPhone iPod Sound Check off, EQ off, and Volume Limit off, I find the Super.fi 4vi to have a very well balanced sound, with very good quality bass, very neutral open mids, and clean well defined treble. Another nice aspect to these particular iems is that they actually do a good job with soundstaging. In my previous experiences with iems, only the modified Sonys offered anywhere near the sort of realistic sound stage that the Supers provide. Until you start comparing the Super.fi 4vi to MUCH more expensive iems, you won’t find a better reproduction in sound for your iPhone while getting a microphone and pause/track switch, too boot! Take the time to get the right fit. This is critical with ANY iem, and these are no exception. As one reviewer observed, just a VERY slight movement when placing these will make the difference in no bass and “WOW”. The rest of the frequency range responds in similare fashion.
